I used to live on the Oregon coast and I loved to go beachcombing. My favorite things to find were glass floats, blue agates and fossils. This basket was inspired by the Orthoceras fossil. This is what I learned from the information that came with the fossil basket base. Orthoceras is a long straight cephalopod from the Devonian Period, 350 million years ago. These creatures lived in a shallow sea where Morocco is now. Orthoceras are identified by their straight shell with center siphuncle. they became extinct approximately 190 million years ago.
I made this basket using dyed black Long Leaf pine needles, white artificial sinew, black and white jasper spear drop beads and a Orthoceras fossil center. Enjoy!
