Daily Visitor
Everyday, for several months now, my bird feeders have been visited by this pileated woodpecker. I call him woody woodpecker with an attitude, because he is very noisy and acts like he owns the yard when he is around. I have been trying to get a good photo of him for several weeks, but he is just too quick and constantly moves his head around. I can get within ten feet of him now, however, he always flies away or moves to the back of the tree before I can get a good photo of him. One day I was in the garden picking flowers and he flew over my head and landed about five feet away from me. He screamed out at me and kept looking me up and down for a long time and I just stood still. He finally must have decided that I was ok, because he went on to eat from the bird feeders totally ignoring me. Unfortunately, I didn't have my camera with me! Have a great day!
