Mom's Playroom

Yippee...the craft room is almost finished! I am still sorting through a few more boxes of stuff and hanging things on the walls, but it is finally a reality. Thanks to the daughter for letting me convert her childhood room into a playroom for mom! I have been crafting ever since I can remember, and it has been fun going through all of the stuff that I have collected over the years...lots of fun memories! I have enjoyed many crafts, including macrame, knitting, crocheting, cross-stitching, candle wicking, quilting, decoupage, beading, many paper crafts, rosemaling, painting, dough art, rug hooking, basket-making and many more. I am looking forward to revisiting some of my old friends soon! As I was moving into the new craft room this week, George Carlin's Stuff routine kept going through my mind. I can't wait to make more "stuff" in my new play room!

  1. It looks fantastic....How does the downstairs look now with all of the furniture in its rightful place. Don't worry about hiding from the world....I think everyone is deserving of a little peace now and then! Still can't decide what to do with my empty room :(

  2. Congratulations!!! Wonderful space and I love all those woven textures that will be surrounding you. Perfect room. Looks like a cat bed has already been picked plus the start of a new trend...vertical cat naps. Loved looking up and seeing the butt basket. Those were hand wreckers to make. I can still feel it.

Lets see, that was in the same GH workroom where, twenty years ago, my prized first knitting project, a complicated vest, was ripped completely apart by the owner while telling the class and I to NEVER drop a stitch. (ONE @!&*%#@+*#&%@ stitch!) I was too stunned to stop her. Did i mention it was also my last knitting project? Nuf said.

  3. Chris- At least you have neck nerfs and dough art! I also lined my pens up like the Tangney's did...not as many, but I've never forgotten that part of their business!

  4. OMG, Neck Nerfs! Capitols please, they made it into a La Conner gallery. Not sayin' any sold. What a hoot they were. I'm actually crocheting a long neck scarf with edges that are looking like the next generation of said nerfs. You had to be a nerf to wear one, no?

Completely forgot about the dough art. I remember cracking up one Christmas when I insisted on hanging them again after it was clear rust and moldy dough now made up the connections. One after another they would fall to the floor with loud thuds, rusted loops still arched over branches. Wonder what the Tangney's are doing now? Thanks for the memories. :)
