Pine Needle Basketry by Vicki Phillips

It's A Good Thing

We are having another hot summer in the Pacific Northwest which makes it perfect weather for drying pine needles. My "Martha Shed" recently got a makeover, so her windows don't leak anymore. She has leaked for at least the past 15 years, so now I don't have to move my pine needles in case it rains. I replaced many things in my new shed with Joanna Gaines in mind, so now I am thinking I should rename the shed Martha Gaines or Joanna Stewart! However, I don't think either one of these ladies would approve of the cat litter bucket in their garden sheds!

I find that using plant trays to dry fresh green pine needles works great. The open trays on the bottom help circulate the air so I don't have to turn the pine needles as often. Plus, you can usually get the plant trays free at any garden center so it's a good thing! Enjoy!
