I have always been fascinated by lighthouses and the history behind them, especially the ones in the Pacific Northwest. I have had the opportunity to visit many of them and live near them over the years. The gorgeous Oregon coastline is home to many of these towering monuments that have served the maritime communities for generations. Heceta Head Lighthouse, Umpqua Rive Lighthouse, Yaquina Head Lighthouse and Tillamook Rock Lighthouse are some of my all time favorites. The natural and stunning beauty that surrounds these lighthouses always brings me peace.
This basket was inspired by Pacific Northwest lighthouses and I tried to capture some of the natural colors that surround them. I made my "
Beacon Of Light" pine needle basket using dyed and natural green Longleaf pine needles, brown artificial sinew, green Chinese jade rondelle beads and a green and brown lighthouse pottery base.
This basket is 10-3/4" x 10-1/4" x 1-3/4".
