This winter we have had many storms and a few with king tides. When that happens the ocean goes wild and makes for an amazing sight to see as the water crashes against the shore. I was not only inspired by the natural forces and flow of the ocean, but also by the "The Sound of the Sea" poem by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow while making this basket.
I made my "Rising Tide" pine needle basket using dyed dark brown Longleaf pine needles, dark brown artificial sinew, pale aqua ocean wave lampwork beads and a beautiful zebra wood center base. Even when I turn the basket upside down it looks like the tide is rising with the waves on the beads and the grain of the zebra wood! This basket is 10" round by 4-3/4" high.
Enjoy!
