When we purchased our first house almost 30 years ago there was no yard or landscaping, just dirt everywhere. The first plant that I bought was a lilac bush. We spent many years putting in the yard, plants and garden. With all the barren spaces in our yard, the lilac flowers were always a welcoming site in the springtime. The blooms would fill the front porch with a wonderful sweet scent and seemed to help make doing yard work a bit more pleasant. That lilac bush helped make our first house a real home. I can see why so many pioneers planted lilac bushes by their front porches. Many of the farmhouses are now gone, but the lilac bushes still remain.I had to hurry up and finish this basket before the lilac flowers faded. I wish the flowers would last forever just like the plants seem to do! I used purple dyed Long Leaf pine needles, dried lavender stems, amethyst nugget beads, picasso amethyst pressed glass flower beads, white seed beads, a purple agate base and stitched it all together with lavender Irish waxed linen thread. Enjoy!
