Squirrel Thief

Small things have been out of place in the garden shed lately and I finally spotted the culprit...the resident squirrel! He was in a box of garden gloves. This is the same squirrel that has claimed the garden and bird feeder as his territory and chases all of the other critters and birds away.
The other day, when I was just getting over a three day migraine (fortunately I don't get these that often anymore), I saw Lucy's microfleece glove moving, what looked like, by itself.  After getting a closer view, I discovered that it was a squirrel shaking the glove up and down very fast. The cats and Lucy were fascinated by the squirrels weird behavior and I got a good laugh ( I thought at first it was a side effect from the migraine)!  I tapped on the window and it didn't stop and then it started to run off with the glove. I opened the door to get the glove, but he wouldn't give it up until I let Lucy outside. If I could only get the squirrel to keep the deer out of the garden, I would give him all of the gloves that he wanted. I never saw a squirrel with a glove fetish before...wildlife is always full of surprises!
Have a great day!

  1. They are funny little creatures. We have a couple of those I wish we had one that was brave and chase the big grey ones away!

  2. What a great story! We would always have tons of gray squirrels around my house. Cute but can be quite a nuisance.

  3. These photos are so fun. I cannot believe how determined this little guy is to garden. Maybe he thinks he will grow into your gloves someday. See, this is what happens when you create something as beautiful as your surroundings. Squirrel envy.
