There are so many hummingbirds around this year that I have been having to fill up what I call "The Kool-Aid Stand" every three days. Since the weather has been so cold and rainy the hardy fuchsias along with other flowers that the hummingbirds like haven't started to bloom yet. I bought a hanging fuchsia basket to try and cut down on the amount of times that I have to fill the bird feeder and to give the hummingbirds and myself something else to enjoy.
Recently, on one of my trips to the farmer's market, I bought two more hardy fuchsia plants that I planted this week in the garden. I learned from the very nice woman that I bought them from that there are over 300 varieties of hardy fuchsias. I had no idea that there were that many and now I am looking for more places to plant them! You can check the varieties out at the Northwest Fuchsia Society website. They are so beautiful and bloom all summer, plus it helps to keep the hummingbirds around, too. Enjoy!

I love Fuchsias! You will be happy to know that I have another Hardy Fuchsia in my new flower bed. I will remember this time that it looks like a dead stick in the Winter:( We have a ton of hummingbirds this year too. Fill that darn thing all the time!
ReplyDeleteOk no hummingbirds for me, but I have LIGHTENING BUGS! The dogs and I both love them. The dogs chase the light and then the bugs go out and the dogs look so confused. I love to watch the bugs at night, it can be 9:30 and still 80 degrees outside and so pleasant to sit out and watch the lightening bugs!!
ReplyDeleteI wish we had lightening bugs. I love to look at them when we are back east...they are so cool!
ReplyDeleteI don't think I have ever seen a lightening bug!
