Every year my husband and I collect a variety of tree branches, holly and other interesting plant cuttings to make Christmas wreaths and other decorations. Over the years, our family and friends have joined in, too. We are fortunate to live on an old Christmas tree farm and have a lovely and endless supply of natural materials to choose from on our property. The cedar, Noble fir, White pine and bay leaf are a few of my favorites. Everything smells so wonderful and it definitely puts me in the Christmas spirit even if it is cold and rainy outside. Some years it has snowed, which really makes me feel like a Christmas elf!
This year the holly grew a lot and was loaded with beautiful huge red berries. I kept thinking about Burl Ives singing "Have A Holly Jolly Christmas" while putting everything together. It is such a fun time of year and I feel blessed to live in the Pacific Northwest with everything that nature provides. I like to take photos of my pine needle ornaments with the wreaths, but I don't leave the ornaments outside. The weather and the critters might ruin them. Everybody likes to help, even Coco!
ENJOY!
