May is one of my favorite months, because many plants and flowers start to bloom and come out from their long winter's nap. The age-old saying "April showers bring May flowers" really is true. However, with the rainy and cold April that we have had in the Pacific Northwest the flowers have been delayed a bit. I still get to enjoy the daffodils blooming along with the hyacinths, tulips, violas, bleeding hearts, windflowers and many more. I just love watching the garden explode with color. There is definitely magic in the dirt! These two flower baskets were inspired by what I see in my garden.
I made my "Flower Power" pine needle basket using natural green Longleaf pine needles, denim blue Irish waxed linen thread, Czech green swirl roller beads and a colorful yellow flower sunburst wood burned (pyrography) and hand ink dye painted wood base. This basket is approximately 5-1/4" round/square by 2-1/2" tall .
I made my "Fleurs" pine needle basket using natural green Longleaf pine needle, sweetgrass, seaweed green Brazilian waxed poly cord, a variety of Czech glass hibiscus coin beads and a lovely floral wood burned (pyrography) and hand ink dye painted wood base. This basket is approximately 6-1/4" round x 2-1/2" tall.
ENJOY!
