I Love Chickens

I have a dear friend of over 30 years, Cheri, who loves her chickens. She calls them her girls and has had many chickens over the years. Some of the current names of her chickens are Sybil, Rose, Astrid, Zelda, Cora, Daisy, Elsie, Imogene, Midge and Susie. She spoils her chickens and has one of the most amazing chicken coops that I have ever seen. Her yard is like a sanctuary with lots of flower gardens, sitting areas and a beautiful pond. If I were a chicken, I would definitely want to live at Cheri's house!

One of the best things about having a friend with chickens is that you get tasty and colorful eggs on occasion. I made this basket for Cheri to thank her for all the wonderful things that she has done for me over the years. She never hesitates to help, especially watering all of my flower pots when I am out of town. I keep adding flower pots and have way too many and she continues to volunteer to water all of them!

I made the "I Love Chickens" basket for Cheri using natural brown Longleaf pine needles, stitched it with dark brown artificial sinew in a pattern that looks like chicken feet, a fun pottery connector cuff bead and a beautiful blue chicken pottery base. Enjoy!
