I started this basket after I read an article on the National Geographic website
about scientists aboard the Exploration Vessel Nautilus discovering a deep-sea nursery with over 1,000 octopuses while exploring the deepest
parts of Monteray Bay National Marine Sanctuary off the central coast of
California. Click here
to see a video about their experience and what they found. I also kept singing to myself the song "Octopus's Garden" by The Beatles while making this
basket. Now I can't get that catchy tune out of my head! This was a fun basket to make while thinking about these amazing sea creatures that seem to slither and dance their way happily through life.
"Octopus Garden"
Made with dyed dark brown Longleaf pine needles, brown artificial sinew, Peruvian ceramic octopus beads and a brown and cream jasper stone set in resin base.
Enjoy!
