Fish Baskets

We are blessed in the Pacific Northwest to have many beautiful and natural places for a variety of interesting fish to live. These baskets were inspired by some of these places and some of my past fun fishing experiences. ENJOY!

"Running Wild"
This basket was inspired by the Elwah river dam removal project that returned the river to its natural state and allowed it to flow freely from the Olympic Mountains to the Strait of Juan de Fuca. When the dams were removed the salmon and other sea-run fish were also free to run wild once again, like nature intended it to be! (click here to see more about the Elwah river restoration)

I made my "Running Wild" basket using natural brown Longleaf pine needles, sweetgrass, denim blue Irish waxed linen thread, light blue Czech glass crow beads and a colorful three-dimensional salmon pottery base.

"Catch of the Day"
This basket was inspired by the many bottom fishing trips that I took in my earlier years jigging for fish along the Oregon Coast. We would spend hours moving our fishing rods up and down and never knew what we would catch. Sometimes it would be a ling cod and other times it would be a sea bass and sometimes it would be a fish that we had never seen before...always a fun surprise!

I made my "Catch of the Day" basket using natural brown and dyed green Longleaf pine needles, dark green artificial sinew, light green sea glass beads and a three-dimensional green fish pottery base.
Note: Both baskets are currently on display and for sale at Sea Hags fine arts, gifts and coastal decor in Gig Harbor, Washington. (click here to go to their website)
