Several Native American tribes in the Pacific Northwest, especially the coastal region, have assigned a deep significance to the orca whale. They believe the orca whale symbolizes power, strength, protection, loyalty, family, longevity, harmony, travel, community, romance and good health amongst other things. There are also many stories, myths and legends about the orca whale.
Click here to hear one of my favorite stories from the book Storm Boy written by Paul Owen Lewis and read by Nancy Wilson. A wonderful reminder that we need to respect all living things, because we are all related somehow.
I made this basket using natural brown Long Leaf pine needles, grey artificial sinew, Peruvian orca whale pottery beads, artistic jasper beads and a grey crystallized agate center base.
Enjoy!
