We have had a beautiful autumn in the Pacific Northwest with very little rain. I am sad to see the flowers fade and the gray dark days arrive. However, on the upside, many of my flowers have gone to seed and it has been easy to harvest the seed heads to save and plant them in the spring. I never clean up my garden until November or later, because I like to let the birds and other critters eat the seeds. We have had an amazing variety of birds stop by on their way south for the winter. The flowers in the garden have been blooming since February and I am amazed that I am still picking bouquets at the end of October! I am also drying hydrangeas and straw flowers for future crafts. I need to figure out a way to incorporate some of these beautiful colors and flowers in my pine needle baskets.
