Taking a peaceful walk in the forest and enjoying the abundance of flora and fauna in the Pacific Northwest is always enjoyable to me. The variety of plants and their palette of colors are always an inspiration for my basketmaking. Another favorite pastime, is picking wild lowbush Canadian blueberries in the summer. They are very small berries and it takes a lot of them to make a pie, but it is well worth the time and effort. I grow a variety of blueberries in my garden, but nothing compares to the rich and juicy flavor of the wild Canadian "bleuets". These baskets are a reflection of those wonderful experiences.
I made my "Peace In The Forest" pine needle basket with natural Longleaf pine needles, denim blue Irish waxed linen thread, "Peace" pottery connector beads and a lovely three-dimensional fern pottery base. This basket is 5" long x 4" wide x 1-1/2" tall.
I made my "Bleuets" pine needle basket with natural Longleaf pine needles, royal blue artificial sinew, beautiful blue sodalite rondelle beads and a unique hand-painted blueberry pottery base. This basket is 5-1/4" long x 4-3/4" wide x 2" tall.
I made my "Leaves Of Green" pine needle basket with natural Longleaf pine needles, hunter green artificial sinew, mint green dyed jade translucent round beads and a gorgeous green leaves pottery base. This basket is 6" long x 5" wide x 2" tall.
ENJOY!
