Wintertime is always a very productive and creative time for me, especially with my pine needle baskets. I love to cuddle up in my favorite comfy chair and coil away while sipping on a warm cup of tea or hot chocolate. I draw inspiration from the colors outside in nature and the wild animals that live in the woods around me. I enjoy watching the birds and other small critters search for food and frolic around. I am grateful to live in a place that is so peaceful and beautiful. I know a lot of people don't have this in their lives, so I like to share with people photos of my baskets showing the natural beauty in the background.
Recently we had a hole punched through our wire fence and we cannot figure out how it got there. It doesn't appear to be cut, so our only conclusion is that it was caused by an animal. My neighbor thinks it was a bear and I think it was a deer that got its antlers stuck on the fence. Whatever it was it hit or pulled with a lot of force. If you have any guesses of what might have caused this, please leave your comments below.
I made my "Moonlight Stroll" pine needle basket using a variety of dyed green and brown Longleaf pine needles, dark brown artificial sinew, green and brown Tibetan matte eye agate beads and a beautiful bear strolling in the woods in the moonlight ceramic center base. Maybe this is the bear that ran into our fence? This basket is 6" wide by 7" long by 2-1/4" tall.
I made my "Petrified Forest" pine needle basket using natural and dyed brown Longleaf pine needles with the sheaths showing around the top of the basket, brown artificial sinew, a beautiful petrified wood set in resin center base. The petrified wood is special, because it is a gift from my dad who found the petrified wood in Wyoming decades ago. I had a local rock hound cut it into slices and then had my friend Shirley set it in resin for me. This basket is 6-1/2" wide by 7-1/2" long by 2-1/2" tall.
ENJOY!
