My family surprised me with a beautiful hummingbird birch bark porcupine quill basket for my birthday this year. It was made by Lorraine Besito who is a Ojibway member of the Saugeen First Nation in Ontario's Georgian Bay region. She is one of the best quillwork artists around and I am honored to own one of her baskets. Her work is outstanding and so lovely. The colors and detail in the pattern are amazing. The small row of sweetgrass around the rim smells wonderful, too. I will enjoy and cherish this basket for many years to come.
ENJOY!
