The first time that I saw Orca whales in the wild was in Yaquina Bay in Newport Oregon in the late 1970's. The pod of whales stayed in the bay for about a week. I spent many hours down on the docks watching them swim together performing their beautiful synchronized dance. Over the years I have only seen them from a distance and on tv on our local news stations when the whales are in Puget Sound. The last encounter that I had with Orca whales up close was on a trip that we took to the San Juan Islands (

Dance of the Orcas
I made this basket to honor the Orca whales. I used natural brown and dyed dark blue Long Leaf pine needles, two different shades of dark blue artificial sinew, two sizes of Peruvian Orca whale beads and a blue agate base.
Enjoy!
