Turtle Rock
There is a group of rocks that sit in the channel behind the cottage in Canada that we refer to as "turtle rock". The reason for this is that it seems like every time we pass these rocks there is a turtle sitting on the rocks. The turtles always look so content and relaxed and almost look like a part of the rocks. Sometimes you have to look very closely to see them. We always look for them and they never disappoint us. We watch them as long as possible before they realize we are watching them and then they slide gracefully back into the water.

I made this basket using natural green Long Leaf pine needles, brown and dark green artificial sinew, opaque green and black with gold inlay glass turtle beads and a beautiful 3-D turtle pottery base made by Pamela Zimmerman.

This is perfection. Truly. A wonderful design and combination of elements. Can't believe you found those perfect turtle beads to mirror the base. Love the photos and the stone turtle peeking in from the side. Hmm, did you bring him down from Canada? Kidding.

Chris, Thank you for kind words about this basket. This one was a fun one to make. Nick really wants this basket, but I needed to restock my baskets at the Harbor History Museum, so if it doesn't sell he will get it. Once again...I am not getting the mother of the year award!
