It seems like every summer I end up taking a partially made basket with me wherever I go. I always think that I will have time to sit down and finish it, but fun summer activities always take over...not a bad thing! This basket traveled by boat to Olympia, by plane and boat to Georgian Bay, and by car to Montreal, Grapeview, and Portland before getting finished on a recent rainy evening at home. I guess the rain is good for something!
My inspiration for this basket came from finding large sea snail shells from our new favorite beach in Grapeview, Washington. I love beachcombing, because I never know what surprises await to be found. I collected so many "treasures" last time I went to the beach that I had to leave several behind. Next time I go to the beach I have to remember to bring a bucket, so I can bring all my "treasures" home with me! My husband is not that thrilled about all the "treasures"!
I made this basket using natural brown and dyed dark brown Long Leaf pine needles, dark brown artificial sinew, tawny baby snail Czech pressed glass beads and a ammonite fossil snail base. Enjoy!

Cool one! I love it! The base is so pretty and unique. Nice job.
ReplyDeleteJust me finally getting to catch up.
ReplyDeleteOh my! I do believe this basket just took First Place in the BG basket rankings though I have to say I have sooo many favorites, there is no true ranking. Still. This is magic missy.
Hugs and love,
Chris
