Kids To Crafts

My family and I have spent the last month working on transforming the daughter's old bedroom into a craft room. It was a little sad to see all of the daughter's mementos from the past 16 years come down from her cork wall, but those feelings were soon replaced with excitement (at least for me, but maybe not for the other worker bees!). It will be a treat to have all of my basket making, quilting and craft items all in one room. I can't wait to get the room finished so I can start working on some fun projects that will help fill up those rainy, dark winter days that are ahead of us.

We have spackled walls, removed old gross carpet and pad (sorry Bean we always meant to replace it sooner), peeled off zebra wallpaper (thanks Bean for coming home to do that), painted over the light blue walls and molding with sage green paint (no surprise on the new color!) and ordered the flooring. One of the most difficult things that my husband had to do was rent a roof scraper to remove black foam padding that was glued to the floor by the previous owner's. Needless to say, he and his back aren't that excited about the most recent remodeling project, but we are hoping the worst is over and that we can be done in the next month or so.

Since this "empty nester" thing is still new to us, we didn't know what to do with all of the things in our daughter's room. We decided to move everything downstairs and set up her bedroom down there. Maybe it is a comforting way for us to still feel like she is in the house?

P.S. Bean we were glad that you liked where we moved all of your things and that you still enjoy coming home and sleeping in your old bed!

  1. You always make my day brighter! When you are done with your project maybe you can help me decide what to do with Jay's room. Remember me....not so crafty!
